Savile Row 23

Curved Interior Atrium Glazing

IQ Projects was commissioned to design and install bespoke curved interior atrium glazing elements for the prestigious office refurbishment at 23 Savile Row. These single-glazed, laminated curved pods, represent a standout feature within the overall design. Made with specialist architectural metalwork, they are finished in bronze powder coating.

Such distinctive internal pods posed notable engineering challenges due to their exceptionally tight radii. These curved interior atrium glazing units were fabricated using annealed laminated glass, in order to achieve the tight radius required, with extensive design calculations and heat soak testing undertaken.

Each glazed atrium pod was created using structural glazing and bespoke connection details, seamlessly connected with stepped glass-to-glass corner connections, creating elegant, frameless meeting rooms that subtly protrude into and integrate with the surrounding space.

The glass pods are carefully supported by engineered aluminium fixing brackets at both the head and base, concealed behind pressings with a pre-patinated bronze finish. These pressings incorporate precise 750mm radius corners and are connected internally via discreet joining sleeves.

The curved interior atrium glazing units are specifically engineered to handle a barrier loading of approximately 0.75 kN/m², critical for ensuring safety within a busy commercial environment in accordance with Approved Document K. The architectural metalwork provides structural support, reinforcing the pods to manage both dead and live loads without compromising the minimalist aesthetic.

Due to ongoing office operations, the installation of the curved interior atrium glazing was conducted entirely outside normal working hours, minimising disruption. Specialised lifting equipment, including a floor crane and precision suction devices, was utilised to manoeuvre glass panels within tight interior spaces.

Due to the sophisticated bronze detailing, the pods harmonise perfectly with the building’s luxurious aesthetic. They are complemented by black silicone gaskets, edging, and spacers that subtly enhance the bespoke finishes.

This internal glazing at Savile Row 23 demonstrates IQ Projects' ability to deliver technically complex, aesthetically refined commercial glass installations, enhancing interior spaces with structural elegance and contemporary sophistication.
