Maggie’s Centre Cheltenham in Architects’ Journal

Written by Pratham Khanna

IQ Projects’ glazing package for Maggie’s Centre Cheltenham has been featured in Architects’ Journal, highlighting Metropolitan Workshop’s sensitive extension to the existing cancer care facility.

The Architects' Journal coverage focuses on the new single-storey addition set alongside the Grade II listed lodge, where carefully detailed glazing plays a central role in connecting the internal spaces to the surrounding gardens while enhancing daylight throughout. Designed to support Maggie’s ethos of calm, domestic environments, the extension introduces new social and support spaces organised around an open-plan kitchen and landscaped setting.

IQ Projects delivered a coordinated glazing solution across the scheme, including thermally broken Invisio structural glazing, curved and silicone-jointed glass screens, frameless-effect roof glazing and controlled opening elements. These systems were engineered to achieve minimal visual interruption, enabling lightness at key junctions while meeting the functional demands of a healthcare environment.
The resulting architecture balances technical precision with a refined, domestic quality; supporting both the design intent of Metropolitan Workshop and the needs of Maggie’s visitors.
