Savile Row was shortlisted for the award
25 Savile Row was shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit Awards in the Office of the Year (2,000m2-5,000m2) category. IQ Projects worked closely with Piercy & Co Architecture to renovate the existing commercial premises into an impressive contemporary design filled with Mondrian steel systems. The steel glazing systems were installed both internally and external to create an industrial design throughout the building.
Other projects shortlisted in the four office categories, ranging from small studios to major commercial projects, are Squire & Partners self-designed new home, and Here Easy by Hawkins/Brown which won the AJ100 Build of the Year 2018. The list also includes projects by Coffey Architects, Piercy & Co, Ben Adams Architects and MAX Architects.
The glazing works carried out by IQ ranged from internal fire-rated glazing with steel framework, steel framed entrance doors and external steel frame systems. These classic Art Deco style glazing systems were used to provide a nod to the rich history of this building located in the exclusive Mayfair district.
Not only was steel used for the windows and doors, but also used for the winter garden and rooftop extension. These spaces were built with steel beams supporting the frameless glass walls and roof to create an elegant aesthetic that was not only structurally sound but also in keeping with the aesthetic of the window and door systems.
