n the beautiful cliffside Dorset setting, five luxury holiday lodges have been designed to maximise the views of the stunning Jurassic coastline with Dorset glazing. A range of local materials has been sourced, alongside high-quality glazing systems, to seamlessly blend into the Dorset cliff.

The lodges sit between two listed castles, replacing six static caravans to transform the entire site. The cluster of unique lodge designs complements the rugged landscape, with the stone forming a contrast against the large elevations of glass.

Due to the location, it was imperative for the glazing systems to be specified with a marine-grade finish, as well as using triple glazing in every element to ensure the properties can withstand the harsh coastal environments. High-performance values were equally as important for this project as slim frames and natural light. That’s why slim framed sliding door systems were chosen to grant access to the private terraced areas.

The slim framed sliding doors were specified with triple glazed units, achieving exceptional thermal performances to provide comfortable living temperatures for guests all year round. IQ utilised Invisio, our in house developed structural glazing system, to grant uninterrupted views of the coastline from within the lodges. Invisio+ was developed and used here to allow triple glazed units to maintain the most minimal, frameless finish.

Corner to corner glass floods the living spaces with natural light in the daytime, whilst allowing guests to enjoy the sunset views in the evenings from within the lodge. Each lodge has an outside terrace, accessible through slim framed sliding doors, encompassed in frameless glass balustrades. The balustrades act as a safety measure, without impeding on the picturesque views.

An eclectic mix of frameless picture windows and slim framed casement windows are used throughout the exterior design, adding a touch of modernism to the otherwise natural environment. Frameless glazing systems were chosen to continue the biophilic design both inside and outside the individual lodges. The furniture choices and interior design use a neutral colour palette, never detracting from the natural surroundings.

The stunning resort has been featured on both Dezeen and Architects journal, recognised for its unique architectural properties.
