 Glass box extension to Lugano restaurant

The Hotel Lugano in Belgium has undergone a vast renovation and been greatly elevated thanks to market leading glazing solutions provided by Keller minimal windows which included the addition of a glass box extension to the restaurant area. This glass box extension expanded the hotel's usable space and created an indoor-outdoor dining experience for guests. The Minimal Window slim framed sliding door solutions used in the glass extension to the restaurant area create floor-to-ceiling glass walls, allowing natural light to flow seamlessly throughout the space.

Ultra slim framed sliding doors allow seamless access

The glass extension to the restaurant is a key feature of the hotel's design, and the aim was to make the glazing as minimal as possible while maintaining its performance. The minimal windows® slim framed sliding door system was chosen for this purpose, with ultra slim sightlines of only 21mm. The system is PAS24 certified, making it suitable for intricate configurations such as an opening corner in the glass extension to the restaurant.

The attention to detail in the renovation of the glass box extension to the restaurant is exceptional. The flush base details for the moving glass walls provide seamless step-free access between indoor and outdoor spaces which is an important consideration for public spaces. The corner opening configurations of the glass extension offer a flexible design, creating a floating roof effect when the oversized panes slide away from the corner junction.

The aluminium profiles of the glass box extension to the restaurant were powder-coated in black to provide a striking contrast against the original building's pale and neutral colour palette, matching the black roof pressings. The steel supporting posts that run the length of the extension are also finished in black, creating a seamless design.
