Glazed Wellness Retreat
Eden Hall Spa
Structural glass to The Spa Garden at Eden Hall
Structural glass to the new Spa Garden
ocated in the heart of Nottingham, Eden Hall, an award-winning day spa retreat commissioned Architects Guy Taylor Associates to sympathetically restore and extend Grade II listed house constructed between 1872-1875.
IQ Projects was the chosen partner to help create a structural glass link merging the traditional old building with the new, a glazed entrance area with automated doors, and structural glass and steel to the new botanical brasserie, recreating the original glass house which was lost in 1942 after a Lancaster bomber crashed in an adjacent field.
A tall glass entrance to the glazed wellness spa retreat spa features slim framed glass with automated sliding door systems. The three-sided glass box and structural glass roof is fixed to the brickwork. IQ supplied the steel frame and installed the glass fins to the left and the front of the entrance. Bi parting automatic sliding glass doors were installed to the right. The Spa Garden glazed entrance helps to maintain stable internal temperatures throughout the year while guest access the new outdoor swimming pool.
The new botanic brasserie is sympathetically designed maintaining a timeless aesthetic with a pitched structural steel and Invisio frameless effect glass installed within the fins for a clean and classic finish. The structural glass roof is connected to the brickwork allowing the original features of the building to be part of the new glazed space.
Two sets of bi-folding doors to the brasserie café provide a permeable glass façade with access to the garden spa patio and facilities. The structural framework with Invisio installed and later glazed was a complex project, but essential to the overall tasteful new addition to the wellness retreat.
The result is a tasteful and functional glazed wellness retreat to this award-winning chain of wellness sanctuaries.
