One Crown Place
ocated in the heart of London, One Crown Place is an elegant new addition to the iconic London skyline. A multi-use build set to make a splash with an eclectic mix of modern industrial apartments and commercial spaces on the lower floors.
Home to 246 luxury apartments, the multi-purpose development also houses premium office spaces and a boutique hotel. In the sought after borough of Hackney, the boutique hotel features a members’ club for its most exclusive guests.
Where residential homes are erected, building regulations dictate that each home must have a certain amount of amenity space, depending on the size and location of the residential dwelling. In densely populated areas like London, where outside space is scarce, often these amenity spaces are individually included within each living space as a modern wintergarden.
IQ designed and installed aluminium bifolding doors, on the internal face of each apartment, to create unique wintergarden designs. Not only does this allow the buildings to surpass building requirements, but also injects a splash of industrialism into the otherwise clean, elegant interior design.
By using slim framed internal glazing systems, the natural light bounces through the apartments from every angle, adding to the luxury aesthetic. When open, the internal bifolding doors stack neatly to one side, with some of the larger apartments having the space for biparting configurations which stack neatly on both sides.
All that can be seen on the internal finish of the building are minimal base tracks, maintaining a minimal and clean design whilst holding the glazing in place. The doors work by sliding along the tracks as they fold, each bifolding joint is attached at the head and base to ensure they stay in place at all times. This leaves a flush threshold on the finished floor level, for step free access between the living spaces and wintergardens.
The internal glazing was specified in a dark, black colour to enhance the modern industrial interior design that is seen throughout the building. Glazing bars were applied to create a steel-look, modern take on traditional internal glazing. Aluminium was preferable for this internal glazing, due to its lightweight and low maintenance properties.
One Crown Place is fast becoming one of the most desired locations in London, with 60% of units being officially sold just two years after the first property sales were launched.
