Residential Development
The Crown
A contemporary new build using structural glazing formed 8 residential apartments replacing a derelict public house near Elephant and Castle in London. A key design element was to positively enhance the surroundings of the new building, providing observation and interaction with the outside. In order to achieve this structural glazing was used throughout mixed with large aluminium windows and aluminium bifold doors.
IQ provided the structural glass roof and structural glass rooflights to the upper floor, maximising the views of the surrounding parks and making the most out of the natural daylight flooding the new open plan living spaces. Additionally, we designed and installed pivot doors and bi-folding doors with slim aluminium framing allowing access to the upper floor terrace, creating cohesive and minimal design aesthetics. The structural glazing and timber cladding matches with the London stock brickwork chosen for the contemporary new build providing a consistent design with the surrounding properties.
