was appointed to design, manufacture and install the replacement aluminium casement windows and doors to The Grove a luxury Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort in Hertfordshire. IQ helped transform the old Amber Suite into a modern function space by replacing the old worn timber window and doors frames with contemporary aluminium framing.

A major design aspect to the replacement windows and doors to the listed hotel was to ensure that the new, modern aluminium framing maintained the design appearance of the old timber-framed doors. To do this IQ designed these slim framed aluminium doors with integrated transom bars to maintain that traditional door design.

The Aluminium Casement Doors to the rear of the function space were fabricated and designed as emergency exit doors in single and double door configurations and are designed to only be opened from the inside of the space. This also helps maintain the minimal appearance of the external elevations of the listed hotel building and protect the design integrity.

Each replacement window and door installation was designed as one arrangement to minimise installation time on site. Fixed Aluminium Casement Windows were designed to surround the opening aluminium casement doors and to the side maximising the amount of natural light coming through to the interior event spaces. The slim frame casement windows ensure the amount of natural light passing through is maximised.

Where the hotel space leads out onto an external terrace three leaf aluminium Bi Fold Doors were used to be pushed to one side, opening up 95% of the aperture. Integrated aluminium transoms were also integrated into these aluminium bi-folding doors as well, and were designed to match the rest of the door openings on the listed building. Using a slim frame bi-fold door system gives the ability to open up a large opening is perfect where large events are held regularly and require access to and from the surrounding gardens.

The aluminium frames on this IQ Project were finished in a white RAL colour, to replicate the existing white timber frames and satisfy planning restriction on the listed building.
