BAFTA Richard Attenborough rooms featured in ADF Magazine.

IQ’s commercial central London project, BAFTA Headquarters Piccadilly, was recognised for its new innovative design which runs throughout the building.

ADF magazine recently wrote an article titled “Raising the roof at BAFTA” where they explore the various changes to the newly designed space by Benedetti Architects. James Parker reviews the inspired remake of BAFTA’s headquarters looking at the process of the design from the brief to construction to the finished project.

BAFTA Richard Attenborough rooms utilized floor-to-ceiling slim framed sliding doors which spanned over 24 meters to the newly raised ceilings. The new top floor was created by uncovering, raising, and restoring the historic wrought iron trussed roof lanterns that formed part of the former Institute of Painters in Water Colour constructed in 1883.

Slim framed sliding doors were chosen due to their 21mm slim sightlines which allow beautifully uninterrupted views of the surrounding view of the West End and Piccadilly Circus, Central London. The use of the oversized glazing at BAFTA improves the natural light intake into the rooftop space, while also providing seamless access to the top floor roof terraces.

“The building is set back with terraces which overlook Piccadilly and St. James’s Church – which I surrounded by mature trees and accessed via 24 meters of fill height glazed sliding doors” – James Parker reviewing the redesign of BAFTA London.

The resulting project has received astounding feedback from both BAFTA and the public and IQ was proud to be part of such a beautiful final project.

This specialist project has been featured in 12 other accredited publications, such as Architects Journal, ICON June 2022 and many more…
