In order to supply and install the appropriate glazing for Commercial Properties in Dorset we prioritise glazing specification, especially with projects with close proximity to marine environments.

With offices all over the country, IQ’s Dedicated South division has worked on a variety of different commercial projects using glazing expertise to enhance the project.

Two of our recent projects that feature specialist glazing for commercial properties in Dorset are Clifftops holiday homes and the new Arts Center for Sherborne Girls School.

Clifftop Hotel Lodges with High-quality glazing systems

Glazing for Commercial Properties in Dorset looking out to the sea

Clifftops luxury holiday resort, in South West England, uses bespoke hotel glazing solutions with minimally framed sliding doors and structural glazing to deliver clear and unobstructed views of the sea, with the ultra-slim sightlines of the sliding glass doors achieving this with ease.

Slim framed sliding doors with triple glazing and corner-connected picture windows were installed throughout the holiday lodges on the serine Dorset clifftops; achieving exceptional thermal performances to provide comfortable living temperatures for guests all year round. IQ supplied and installed Invisio, our in-house developed structural glazing system, to grant uninterrupted views of the coastline from within the lodges. Invisio+ was developed and used here to accommodate triple-glazed units whilst maintaining the most minimal, frameless finish.

Due to the location, it was imperative for the hotel glazing systems to be specified with a marine-grade finish, as well as using triple glazing in every element to ensure the properties can withstand the harsh coastal environments. Each lodge has an outside terrace, accessible through triple glazed slim framed sliding doors, encompassed in frameless glass balustrades. The balustrades act as a safety measure, without impeding the picturesque views.

Unique performing arts space created for Sherborne girl school

Sherborne girls’ school, is a great example of specialist glazing for commercial properties in Dorset. The girls School has recently completed a specialist new build project to expand the student’s quality of education using specialist educational glazing. The newly built Arts Center was created to give the students the opportunity to express themselves in the performance arts centre which comprises a new music school, recital hall, two foyers, exhibition space, multi-functional social areas, café, and new drama school.

Glazing for Commercial Properties in Dorset in terms of sliding doors at night

IQ installed bespoke commercial glazing solutions for this modern school building project, including minimally framed slim sliding doors. The sliding door solutions create the opportunity to merge the indoor and outdoor areas when the weather permits, as well as offer high levels of ventilation. Where large elevations of south-facing glazing were specified, brise soleil or pergolas were used to offer solar shading. Due to the minimal sightlines, the system does not obstruct the surrounding views or the flow of natural light. These minimally framed sliding doors help to promote the mental and physical benefits that natural lighting creates.

When specifying educational commercial glazing for educational buildings, such as schools or university buildings, there are many factors that require careful consideration. Natural light, ventilation and comfortable temperatures are vital when creating effective learning spaces, and regulations for fire escape and safety need to be adhered to.

The varied range of bespoke glazing IQ Projects supplies, and installation creates the ability to choose the correct glazing based on the fabric of the building, the age of the building and to accommodate for the buildings which need more developed bespoke glazing. Many listed buildings feature historical window systems, which were typically delicate and very fragile, formerly used as a symbol of wealth for rich landowners. Although these windows do not offer modern performance values, they do have a specific appearance that is historic, click here to read about commercial glazing for listed buildings.

IQ Projects can recommend varied coatings and specialist accessories which may be a necessity for glazing for Commercial Properties in Dorset. Due to the proximity to the sea, some commercial projects will need to have special marine-grade coatings to reduce corrosion of framing. With natural corrosion resistant properties, aluminium is a great choice for marine environments, where glazing is subject to harsher conditions. marine grade polyester powder coating can be applied to the framings, which has excellent durability to ensure projects of this nature are long lasting, low maintenance and durable.
