Have you ever heard that statistically a person notices your shoes before anything else? At IQ we think entrance designs are the ‘shoes’ of the construction world.
All buildings require entrance designs. Entrance design is a key element of a commercial project, setting the tone for the entirety of the property. Whether your project is open to the general public or specifically aimed at a particular demographic, the design can be tailored to reflect this.
Door systems can play a pivotal role in the finishing effect of a buildings entrance. That’s why IQ provide a variety of commercial door systems as well as advice and guidance when it comes to choosing the right systems.
IQ always endeavour to provide unique solutions to best suit a project’s needs. Entrance design can even be used to drive and improve business in some cases.
This transformation saw IQ convert the Dog and Badger from a public house to a contemporary, luxe bar and restaurant using modern entrance design. By adding a glass lobby IQ were able to provide the business with extra space, an increase in natural light and an enticing front entrance. The transformation went hand in hand with their business plan, they were able to target and bring in new customers with the new look.
After the iconic Victoria & Albert museum unveiled their 2018 transformation to the Cromwell Road entrance, they announced their visitor numbers had risen by 26% that year. The entrance was described as ‘less intimidating’ by the museum director, Tristram Hunt. This boost in visitor numbers for the V&A can be applied across any commercial project, helping business in many ways. If you were working on a clothes outlet or store, the window displays would require maximum attention to detail as a representation of the company and product. IQ apply this logic to entrance designs when striving to improve commercial architecture.
The Spire Hospital in Roding enlisted IQ to design and install the specialist architectural glazing throughout the reception area. For the redesign of the hospital entrance a structural glass canopy was erected to cover and protect the frameless glass entrance doors. This design complimented the building whilst maintaining the clean, hygienic demeanour that is key to properties in the health sector.
Natural light is a proven component of good health and wellbeing, IQ took this into consideration when designing the structural glass wall surrounding the front of the new entrance.
Entrance design is amongst the many factors that the designers at IQ consider in great detail before embarking on a commercial project. IQ create bespoke glass structures that drive and enhance a commercial purpose.
This specialist seven-storey commercial project based in Bristol underwent a development designed by Barton Wilmore including an IQ frameless effect all-glazed atrium. Other IQ glazing solutions also included EI30 frameless fire-rated solutions, specialist sandblasted manifestations and frameless effect glass balustrades. Structural glazing was used to create an impressive glass box at the top of the atrium for maximum light intake and incredible sky views and views of the city.
